Who am I?

Well, let me tell you a little about myself.

I’m Hannah, and I live in the Armagh countryside with my husband, our three children, and our Cockapoo dog who is part crazy, part genius. I love art, music, history, nature, rewilding, old furniture and heritage architecture. Every year, without fail, I disappear to France for two glorious weeks. It is, quite honestly, my happy place. Give me a dusty pathed French village filled with antique shops, a slow afternoon wandering quiet streets, followed by a long lunch, good coffee and a spot of people watching, and I couldn’t ask for much more. I’m even learning French, although I’m still a long way from sounding like a local. I’m someone who genuinely enjoys people, even though I can be a little shy at first and love to laugh. Theres something silly in everything serious. I adore Jane Austen (especially Pride and Prejudice), love a good romance, and have always been drawn to stories. Perhaps that’s why weddings have always felt like such a natural fit.

I’ve been photographing weddings since 2012, and I still wake up excited before every single one.
My mind is constantly wandering ahead – to the couple I’ll be spending the day with, the venue, the light, the weather, the little moments I might witness, and how all of those tiny pieces will come together to tell one beautiful story. Photography, for me, has never been about creating perfection. It’s about noticing.
The way your dad looks at you when nobody else is watching. Your grandmother’s hands holding yours. The laugh that wasn’t planned. The quiet five seconds you steal together after the ceremony. Those are the moments that become the memories.When I photograph a wedding, I come back to the same three things over and over again:
Good light. Genuine connection. Everything natural.
That’s my trinity.

I don’t believe perfection is what makes something beautiful. The best food is organic. The loveliest gardens don’t grow in straight lines. Old houses carry the marks of everyone who has loved them before us. The most meaningful photographs are no different. If you can look at yourselves with kindness instead of criticism, and understand that your imperfections are not something to hide but part of what makes your story uniquely yours, then I think we’re kindred spirits.
Over the past fourteen years I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings for fellow photographers, florists, makeup artists, hairdressers, dress designers, videographers and musicians within the wedding industry, alongside hundreds of wonderful couples. I’ve even been fortunate enough to receive a few awards along the way. I’m completely self-taught. So perhaps I must be doing something right. More than anything, I simply love what I do. It never feels like just a job.
It feels like the greatest privilege to be invited into one of the happiest days of someone’s life and create photographs that will still mean something in fifty years’ time.
