Weddings are usually thee most lasting legacy in photographic form that people will invest in. Its a once in a lifetime kinda thing. It’s so exciting to decorate and festoon the day with bits and pieces. Milk Churns of flowers and Dream Catcher backdrops. Themes and Dreams. I absolutely love shooting all these little details, the bits of personalisation and creativity throughout the day that makes it utterly unique to the people and families involved.
When I was curating the images for this blogpost however, I noticed that, unusually, this wasn’t what was drawing my eye. It was the people that I stopped to scroll on. Their faces and the emotions in the moment.
And it makes you realise – remember actually – that this is what it is all about in the first place. Capturing the people involved.
There were so many happy faces at this wedding. So much goodwill. As a fellow photographer friend of mine recently said to me (and it stuck in my mind) we don’t want to photographic sour beaks 😀 We didn’t have any of those on Maria and Fergals wedding day, so we need not have worried! Not one. Especially during the speeches!
The two images that really got me the most were two images of the parents. You can’t fake those emotions (see if you can find them in the reel below).
Maria and Fergal trusted me implicitly. When they said they were up for a long walk down by the river at Benburb Priory, it was just the best. Nothing was too much trouble for them, so I offer a big thank you to them for that. I hope you like the results!
A massive thank you also goes out to my good buddy and (annoyingly brilliant super awesome creative genius) Peter Carvill who helped me out on this wedding. Peter, remember me when you are a millionaire, shooting weddings for European Royalty! xx
