When I get into my car at the end of a wedding day, after being in a crowd of 200 people for some 10+ hours, I start to think. I am alone, in the darkness, usually with some old tunes rattling away on 2FM in the background. I start to process the things I have seen and captured on camera. The people whose company I have been immersed in. All the little bits of the day. Sometimes, most times actually, people really leave an impression on me. You start to open into their world and you think about their take on life, their way with people. Laura and Michael were such a couple. I left this wedding thinking I wish I could be just a smidgen as nice and as genuine as they are.
Laura has one brother, Barry. You will see him in this blogpost with his special rabbit teddy bear that was dressed in the same suit as he had. He was a VIP superstar at the wedding! I think he got more hugs than anyone else! But not once did his big sister ever call him simply “Barry”.
It was always “my darling Barry”.
Be it via email or on the phone, she always referred to him as “my darling Barry”. Isn’t that the most lovely thing? Laura now works as a special education teacher and some of her class arrived to join the party. Patricia Tracey kicked of the music during the meal and before desert was served half the crowd were already up and dancing!
This couple exude genuineness. Their connections to each other and the way they were with their family and friends were like a lesson in life. It was an absolute privilege to be able to capture their day. I am so glad the sun shone down on them and everything went perfectly, they so deserved it x
A big thank you to fellow photographer (and old school friend!) Katrina Taggart for shooting alongside me at this wedding!
Suppliers: Laura and Michael compiled a near perfect team to ensure their day looked its very best. I was so excited to see some of the names on the day! Some of my very favourite suppliers were involved in this wedding.
